Director of Business Development

The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a seasoned IT services business development to partner with the owner to drive new growth. If you have an existing CxOs network in the mid-size business community, this opportunity is right for you. Get in on the ground floor as we seek to scale our success.

The preferred candidate location is in the New York City Metro Area, but other major metro areas are not excluded.

The Company

We specialize in modern application development, partnering with Amazon and Microsoft to deliver world class solutions. Delivering modern solutions requires deep expertise across multiple domains, and every Polymath is well versed in multiple technology domains.

We partner with our clients to do custom development of critical business applications, often resulting in consolidated and integrated modern solutions with reduced operating costs. Our target clients are small to mid-sized businesses with small internal IT staff – whose current workloads makes custom development a challenge.

Job Summary

The business development executive responsible for prospecting with potential business to business clients and closing IT services contracts. To succeed, you must excel at setting first time appointments with both business and IT executives.

If you have a strong network with these executives, this will be the best avenue to get appointments. You must also be adept at actively calling prospects over the phone to set appointments and schedule discovery calls. You will be supported by the CEO and colleagues to effectively present technology solutions and close business.

This is a “hunter role”.


The business development executive duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leverage your network to get initial set of meetings
  • Prospect more broadly by phone to set discovery meetings
  • Enthusiastically represent Polymath Labs to potential clients
  • Drive new business leads with prospects that meet our demographic criteria
  • Work in a team environment
  • Travel to client locations
  • Utilize in-house CRM system logging opportunities and activities as they occur


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10+ years of solid performance in outside sales with a proven track record selling IT solution and services to small and mid-sized businesses (hardware, software and product sales background is not a good fit)
  • Track record of setting appointments based on telephone prospecting in this environment
  • Strong current network with target clients
  • Aptitude in network building that result in appointments
  • Entrepreneurial, energetic and enthusiastic personality
  • Self-disciplined, self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to close new business
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high energy environment
